WEATHER SYSTEMS – WHAT’S AHEAD?
A northerly airflow has persisted across Tasmania ahead of a weakening cold front approaching from the west, expected to cross the state early Saturday.
A trough will follow during Saturday within a westerly airstream, before winds turn northwesterly on Sunday ahead of further cold fronts forecast to cross Tasmania on Monday morning and Tuesday.
A much colder southerly airstream is expected to develop behind Tuesday’s cold front.
SATURDAY’S WEATHER FORECAST
Showers across Tasmania, mainly affecting northern and western districts during the morning before contracting to western areas by the evening. North to northwesterly winds will be gusty to strong at times, tending west to northwesterly during the day.
Temperatures will climb into the low to mid 20s across parts of eastern and southern Tasmania ahead of the cooler change.
HIGH FIRE DANGER – SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER
High Fire Danger conditions are expected across parts of eastern and southern Tasmania today.
Gusty to strong north to northwesterly winds, warm temperatures and low humidity will combine with dry vegetation to increase the risk of bushfires and grassfires.
