Fire Weather Warning – TAS

Sunday is shaping up as a potentially dangerous bushfire setup across parts of Tasmania, particularly through the Southeast and Greater Hobart region.

Temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid to high 20s, accompanied by strengthening, dry northwesterly winds ahead of the next change.

HIGH FIRE DANGER is currently forecast for the Southeast on Sunday with local areas of EXTREME FIRE DANGERS.

Strong winds combined with warm and dry conditions can cause any fire that starts to spread quickly and become difficult to control. There is also the potential for damaging wind gusts as the system develops.

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY TO PREPARE.

Go over your Bushfire Survival Plan now.

Clear loose and flammable material from around your property.

Secure anything that could become airborne in strong winds.

Know where you will go and what route you will take if you need to leave.

Keep up to date with Tasmania Fire Service and official emergency warnings.

Even though we’re only in September, bushfire weather does not wait for summer it’s already here.

Prepare now, remain alert and please don’t become complacent.
